At long last, you might say. And it does seem I’ve been working on it for ages.

Five Year Project: July update

do you have goalsI’m taking part in Misha and Beth’s Five Year Project and my five-year goal is to write a novel and get it published.

I’ve been sending my historical novel to agents: The Reluctant Scribe, set in the Tang Dynasty of China. This month I made some progress, with one agency asking to see the full manuscript. Unfortunately, they recently decided it wasn’t for them.

June Update: 5 year writing project

Most of my attention over the past few months has been focused on getting my non-fiction book, Walking the English Coast, ready for publication.

I’m working on my Walking the English Coast non-fiction book. Not sure if I’m ever truly happy with anything I write.

It’s two years since I joined the project and, although I have finished my novel, The Reluctant Scribe, I’m still collecting rejections from agents.

My quest for an agent for my historical novel, The Reluctant Scribe, continues. I’ve written to eight so far, with six polite rejections and two still pending.

My quest for an agent for my historical novel, The Reluctant Scribe, continues. I’ve written to eight so far, with six polite rejections and two still pending.

In the meantime, I’m moving on with my next novel. It’s completely different in tone and style. This time it’s a fast-paced, sci-fi adventure, written in the first person, present tense, and aimed at the young adult reader. Continue reading “5 year writing goal: November update”
