Writing progress this month
- Crime fiction (Birkbeck assignment) = 999 words, after editing.
- Ruthless Scribbling blog post = 664 words
- Ruth’s Coastal Walk blog post = 1768
- Ruth’s Coastal Walk blog post (yesterday) = 1252
- Ruth’s Coastal Walk blog post (today) = 1357
Total = 6,040 words
I won’t be writing tomorrow as I’m running a workshop in London, followed by my evening class at Birkbeck. Let’s see what I do on Friday!
I seem to average 1000 words a day before it goes downhill.

Your stats just show how the words mount up! I’ve just calculated a rough total for my own blog posts – around 40,000 words or nearly half a novel! For some reason I find it easier to write short pieces than focus on something that could take a long time. Even writing 1,000 words of my novel a week would get it finished in 18 months which doesn’t sound too bad.
