Winning a short story competition

Time to boast? So sorry, but yes, I won the Crime Story Competition in Writing Magazine and my short story was published in the January 2012 edition of the magazine.

The Shed, Ruth Livingstone wins Crime Fiction prize in Writing Magazine 2012

Crime fiction?

I won the Crime Story Competition in Writing Magazine and my short story was published in the January 2012 edition of the magazine.

This was:

  • The first piece of fiction I have ever had published.
  • The first fiction prize I have ever won.
  • The first time I have ever appeared in the same publication as the great Sir Terry Pratchett.

Writing Magazine, Ruth Livingstone story in this edition

The January edition of Writing Magazine came out, as they usually do, ridiculously early. In fact, it appeared in WH Smith at the beginning of December. You won’t find it on the shelves now but, if you are really interested, you can buy back copies in a variety of ways:

The paper issue can be ordered from Writing Magazine’s website. or you can buy a slightly cheaper electronic version
from Pocket Mags.

Author: Ruth Livingstone

Walker, writer, photographer, blogger, doctor, woman, etc.

  1. Hey Ruth,
Congratulations!!! If that was me, I would have brought about 12 copies of the magazine to give out to friends and family LOL.

    Keep smiling,

  2. Fantastic news, Ruth. Well done. I have a copy as I subscribe, but haven’t had time to open it (or the new one) That is now to be rectified just so I can think to myself. I know that author! I posted a link to your blog on the A215 FB page, to let people know. You may get a flurry of attention.
