A personal best – 3,293 words in one day

Yes, in my efforts to catch up with my NaNoWriMo quota, I have written a whopping 3,293 words today. Sadly, 3,093 of them are probably rubbish, but at least I am writing.

Funnily enough, I had to force myself to sit down and write today. Why? I have come to an interesting point in the book, where various elements of the plot are coming together. I didn’t want to write because of one thing – fear; fear of not getting it right, fear of messing up.

Well, upward and onward. Half way through. Only 28,851 words to go.

6000 words behind schedule

After 3 days of non-writing, massive catch up today. Still 6000 words behind schedule but am motoring on. And the plot is becoming more exciting…..

How is my MA application going? Well, I have had an email asking for a sample of my written work, no more than 5000 words of fiction. After some agonising, I have decided to submit a sample from my current NaNoWriMo project. It may not be polished, but it has vigour and immediacy to the writing. The alternative is a short story I have been working on, but that has been edited to death and only comes to over 1,000 words. So NaNoWriMo it is.

Work got in the way

Have had three very busy days.

  1. Day 1: Working all day, including chairing a meeting.
  2. Travelling down to London and finding I had booked a hotel for the wrong month!
  3. Day 2: Spending a day doing workshops – 9 hours on my feet.
  4. Travelling to Birmingham by train and finding hotel in a rainstorm.
  5. Revising into early hours for an accreditation session.
  6. Day 3: Doing an accreditation session.
  7. Travelling back home by slow cross country train.
  8. Then 1600 words before bedtime.

Only 6000 words behind schedule!
